The Campaign for the Solar System: The Space war 2178-9999
A downloadable game
It’s the year 2178, and 43 years have passed since we dropped the skies on the earth, war is in the horizon, with 4 competing factions about to fight for the right of rule the solar system.
Play as one of the 4 factions:
- The Most Serene Republic of Luna
- The Federal Republic of Arcadia
- The Ceres Syndicate
- The Jovian Confederation
Manage logistics, trade, build your fleets, and conquer all stations of the others to become the sole ruler of humanity.
The orbital board simulates the movement of the celestial bodies, you must plan each and every path you take, ever trip you start, every missile you launch, with multiple rounds of anticipation, to predict the movement of the planets and stations, and the movement of your foes.
Ships and missiles take months to reach their targets, wars take years to yield results, and the conflict will not stop until someone archieves a total victory.
A game for 4 players (but can be played with less).
Game done for the Game Design Guild aniversary jam, with the theme of sisyphean games, with the goals being: 1, pointless 2, difficult 3, good
This game almost killed me, and my computer died during development, the mechanics where re-done multiple times as i studied more about orbital mechanics until i decided to stop and just do something serviceable rather than realistic
The game is untested, both because i ran out of time, and because the game it is inspired (loosely) by wasnt tested either and it would be funnier to just put it like this.
The lore was done in a single sleepless night of mental collapse so its not good, but at least it fills the intention of feeling like over the top japanese game lore.
I might come back at a later date to fix the mechanics, improve the game, re-do the lore, and put some visual flair.
Also, the cover is clearly a photobash of art i dont own and ill replace it as soon as i can afford a proper cover, sorry.
Stuff that was not done due to lack of time:
- Different sizes of warship
- Mobile shipyards
- Mobile asteroid miners
- Carriers? possibly for mechs or something?
- Kinetic Kill Vehicles (anti missile missiles)
- Orbital defense platforms
- Orbital mirrors (relays for relays)
- Extra station nodes (1 static station node for Pallas, 2 non-static station nodes for Vesta and Hygiea, and 3 very dinamic moving ones for the Hildas asteroids)
- Laser propulsion mechanics

I've successfully pitched this game to my group and we're eager to play it.
Could you please upload the files for the map disks as separate PNGs? That would be of great help to be able to play this in a VTT
This looks like a nightmare, I'm dying to try it!
So, do the numbers 2178-9999 also reference the time needed to finish the game?
Truly an amazing project, hang in there.
